Trafficking Information

Human trafficking involves the use of force, fraud, or coercion to obtain some type of labor or commercial sex act. Every year, millions of men, women, and children are trafficked worldwide – including right here in the United States. It can happen in any community and victims can be any age, race, gender, or nationality.

Many survivors of trafficking have been trafficked by romantic partners, including spouses, and by family members, including parents.

Today, there are 49.6 million people in modern slavery worldwide, and 12 million of them are children.

In 2021 NCMEC received more than 17,200 reports of child sex trafficking from all 50 U.S. States, Washington, D.C. and Puerto Rico which included every type of community: cities, small towns and tribal land.
